Before I started designing freelance full time, I used to work for Devon Carers Link. This organisation helps carers in Devon, providing them with information and opportunities. Last Friday saw the first ever Devon Carers Festival – held on Exeter Cathedral Green.
Not only was the setting gorgeous:
The festival had many stalls geared towards helping carers – advice, groups, training opportunities and charities. Judy Spiers hosted the event, and the Mayor even put in a turn. “Best Foot Forward”, “Samba” and “Singing for the Brain” entertained throughout the afternoon, and a free lunch was supplied for carers.
Below is a selection of some of the best images I took on the day:
It was a really inspiring day, meeting people who spend their lives looking after friends and family. The theme of this year’s Carers Week is “A Life of my Own” and I think it’s very easy to forget the sacrifices that carers have to make.
