It was my husband’s birthday at the beginning of July. He has always wanted to go and see the tour de France, and this year, as it was starting in the UK, we decided to spend the weekend in Yorkshire.
We hired a campervan, and camped in Yorkshire, spending most of our time either near Scarborough or in Haworth, and travelling round to watch the Tour.
Saturday, we headed to Leeds and watched the start in the city centre – awesome…
Followed by brunch and a tour of the city with some friends. We then made our way back to Mr Foley’s Cask Ale House in Leeds for a beer and to watch the finish on their big screens… (and Cavendish’s crash!)
Sunday we stayed in Haworth, found a spot on the main cobbled street, watched the awesome caravan go through first (branded cars, throwing freebies, police vehicles and the team cars) after the locals and visitors who were riding the course first, then saw the leaders followed by the peloton…
We then headed to the park to watch the end on the big screen 🙂
A fantastic few days away – awesome to watch and lovely to catch up with friends too. I’ve come back feeling refreshed ready for a busy summer of work!
