This is part 1 of a 2 part post about a full branding and logo design project.
Not long ago I was approached by Lucy to help her come up with a logo and branding for her new Beauty Salon in London. She sent me a link to a fantastic Pinterest board with her ideas in inspiration on and I set to work. She wanted something using jewel/peacock colours, that was classic and elegant and using the moon and star shapes somewhere in the design…
I mocked up three different ideas to present to Lucy:
This one is based loosely on art deco and art nouveau style, but kept very minimal, and slightly more modern, and uses the crescent moon idea for the o’s.
This idea uses Futura, a gemoetric sans serif typeface in uppercase. I have substituted the O’s and the A of moon and stars to actual moon shapes and star shapes. This is a simpler more typographical solution.
The final idea uses a more classic and formal approach, using a stylised star/diamond shape as a recurring pattern and motif, and a classic serif typeface – Trajan. The shape can be used at different sizes and in different ways, to maintain the brand consistency and would use the rich peacock colours.
Part 2 coming soon…
