Well it’s been quite a year! A few new projects, a few new customers…
New projects that I completed this year include…
DCUK:
I continued to update the website, take the product photography, and design the e-shots, and embarked on a complete rebrand which will be launched in the next few months… Below are a few of my favourite shots from last year, and a few of the choice e-mails, which I updated the look and format of during 2012.
DAISY COFFINS:
I updated the design of the Daisy Coffin website, using the colours, type and supporting graphics of the existing brand.
BLISS HAIR AND BEAUTY SALON:
As well as some photography sessions with the girls at different events, I have been keeping their blog and facebook page updated and I have been working on some print work throughout the year.
DEVON CARERS:
I collaborated with Rachel from Colourclear Graphic Design to work on the new re-brand of Devon Carers Link. They were renaming and rebranding the whole organisation, as well as changing the structure and idea behind the brand. We worked together on the identity and branding, marketing materials, emails, websites, newsletters, posters and more. My first major collaboration – which was fun and really nice to have someone else to bounce ideas off.
We also worked on 2 sub-brands within Devon Carers – Devon Young Carers and Devon Carers Voice – developing a website for both… but more about that at a later date…
CRABSTITCH:
I designed this logo for a friend of mine who was starting an embroidery business in the summer…
IMPULSIVE YACHT RACING:
…Followed shortly by a logo for the new racing team and yacht that I bought as part of a syndicate last summer:
DAISY CREMATION URNS:
Throughout the year I have been working on the Daisy Cremation Urns website and brochure, and we relaunched the new website towards the end of last year. I spent a lot of time learning about coding and opencart to get this website right…
ARGAN VIE:
I continued to tweak the branding, and design packaging for Essential Oils Direct’s line of Argan Oil products – Argan Vie:
Essential Oils Direct:
As well as the Argan Vie Products, we worked on labels and product shots, as well as a logo for aromatherapy points for the online store:
FLAVEL:
Another job in collaboration with Rachel from Colourclear Graphic Design – this was a fun job updating the design and information for 2013’s Comedy Festival Leaflet and posters. The templates were similar to the previous year, and we tweaked the design with the new information. (More about this in a future blog post…)
I also completed the re-brand of my own Graphic Design company:
I worked on a personal project based on the Reading Challenge I had set myself the year before, to read 30 books:
I entered a competition to design characters for an alphabet, called “What’s Your Type” by “Oh Momma”, and one of my letters won…
I entered and was shortlisted for the South Devon Business Excellence Awards “Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award”:
And I read and reviewed four different Art and Design books, both for this blog and my other Book Review blog, Information is Beautiful, Graphic Design: A Concise History, How to Design Websites and Creative Inc.
…and that was just the business… in my personal life, I read 50 books, I turned 30, I dyed my hair bright red, I climbed, I sailed, I ran my first marathon and my second half marathon, I sang in a Gilbert and Sullivan musical: Mikado, I bought a boat in a syndicate, we won our first sailing series this Autumn, I watched and enjoyed the Olympics, I went to a street party for the Jubilee, I spent a week in Spain, got married, and spent three weeks in New York and driving around California! Phew! 2013 has a lot to live up too…
I have many plans for Laurapakora Design this year, so watch this space for more… first up, I will be updating my website with new work, and finalising a few projects, including a new website and branding for a False Nail Design company – Skulls and Rubys – which should be launched in the next few weeks.
Happy New Year!
TTFN,
Laura
